This month, I want to highlight one of the biggest misconceptions we see at Monty Osteo.
That progress only counts when the pain is completely gone.
But in reality? Healing is often much more gradual (and much less linear) than that.
Sometimes the biggest signs of progress are actually the quieter ones.
Things like:
✔️ recovering faster after a flare-up
✔️ moving with a little less fear
✔️ sleeping better
✔️ feeling more confident in your body
✔️ needing less recovery time
✔️ noticing fewer “really bad” days
When you come in with pretty significant pain, we understand that often the pain is at the forefront of your mind. However, we might ask questions about your day to day, to understand better if you are on the road to improvement. Somethings we often notice is that you start building:
• more capacity
• more confidence
• better movement
• improved recovery
• less fear around pain
And that still counts as progress.
So if you’ve been feeling discouraged lately, consider this your reminder:
your body may be adapting and improving in ways you haven’t fully noticed yet.
And that’s something worth acknowledging.
