manual therapy and is it all thats needed?

In this months blog I want to share a little insight into what I’ve been noticing in the clinic lately—something that really highlights what sets Monty Osteo apart.

The Osteopaths we have here—Cooper, Claire, Jacqui and myself—genuinely love being part of this space. Although we each bring our own personality and style, there’s a shared commitment that binds us: we are a team.

And when you’re surrounded by positive, empathetic, uplifting people, it has a ripple effect.

“You are the average of the five people you spend the most time with.”

I believe that same energy is part of why our clients get better. When you book in at Monty Osteo, you’re not just seeing someone with clinical expertise—you’re seeing someone who genuinely cares. Someone who will take the time to listen to your concerns and offer tailored, thoughtful advice to help manage your complaint.

Let me explain what I mean with a real-life example.

I occasionally treat my kids at home. My son, Owen, would happily have a treatment every day if he could—whereas my daughter, Maya, only lets me near her if absolutely necessary! When I treat them at home, they often improve, but it usually takes a few sessions. Yet, when I treat them in the clinic, it often takes just one.

I book them in for an appointment, bring them in (they will occasionally walk), and they wait for a few minutes in the reception area. Then we head into the treatment room. I sit them down, ask them to tell me what’s going on, perform an examination, explain my findings, give them a hands-on treatment, and follow up with advice tailored to their situation.

So, what’s the difference between a quick session at home and a proper clinic appointment? It’s not just the manual therapy—it’s everything around it.

It’s the communication.

It’s the feeling of being heard and understood.

It’s the experience of being fully cared for.

And that’s what happens for you, too.

Your consultation is so much more than what your osteopath does with their hands. It begins the moment you decide to make that appointment. That single decision is often the first—and most important—step on your path to feeling better.

And this is the reason we feel, we aren’t your average Osteo clinic.
